Gives me a chance to chat with friends each week.
Big improvement in our eating and we love having the sample recipes.
It's so important to my health to have fresh produce, and I liked the recipes you handed out.
We provide low-cost shares to area senior citizens
Are you, or do you know, a low-income senior citizen who wants affordable access to our farm-fresh food? In collaboration with the Northampton Senior Center and with support from the Harvard Pilgrim HealthCare Foundation, Grow Food Northampton makes eating healthy and local food easier than ever with our Red Bag Senior Share (formerly known as Senior FarmShare)!
During the summer, participants who sign up in advance receive a one-person, weekly share of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables with a value of $13.50 per week for just $3 per week. The vegetables are grown at Crimson & Clover Farm in Florence, and the fruits and sweet corn are grown at other local farms. In 2018, shares are available for pickup on Wednesday, 3-4pm, at the Northampton Senior Center starting July 11th.
Seniors over the age of 60 are eligible for the share if the receive or participate in: SNAP (food stamps), Medicaid, SSI, AFDC, welfare, or veterans aid; participate in the Food Bank’s Brown Bag Program; live alone and have income below $22,980; or have combined income with a spouse/partner that is below $31,020.
Participants can pay with cash ($30), or with SNAP, through two automatic payments of $15, the first in July and the second in August.
