It’s so important to my health to have fresh produce, and I liked the recipes you handed out.

We provide low-cost shares to area senior citizens

Are you, or do you know, a low-income senior citizen who wants affordable access to our farm-fresh food? In collaboration with the Northampton Senior Center and with support from the Harvard Pilgrim HealthCare Foundation and CISA, Grow Food Northampton makes eating healthy and local food easier than ever!

During ten weeks of the summer, participants who sign up in advance receive a one-person, weekly share of freshly harvested vegetables with a total value of $125 for just $10 ($1 per week). The vegetables are grown at Crimson & Clover Farm in Florence. Shares are available for pickup on Tuesdays, 2-3pm, at the Northampton Senior Center.

Any Northampton resident who is 60 or older is eligible if they: receive fuel assistance, SNAP (food stamps), Medicaid, SSI, AFDC, welfare, or veterans aid; participate in the Food Bank’s Brown Bag Program; live alone on an income below $22,980; or live with a spouse/partner on an income below $31,020.
