Food Access Program

HomeHome → Our Projects → Northampton Community Farm → Food Access Program

Grow Food Northampton is committed to making our farm’s bounty accessible to local residents struggling to afford fresh, healthy food.

Affordable Farm Shares

In 2011 we worked with Crimson & Clover Farm to provide affordable farm shares to 25 low-income households in the Northampton area.  We also teamed up with CISA to subsidize 9 shares for local low-income seniors.  Grow Food Northampton subsidized the cost of these shares, and our volunteers delivered them to the Northampton Senior Center each week.  CISA provided much-appreciated administrative support.

Donations to Hunger Relief Agencies

In 2011, Crimson & Clover Farm donated over 10,000 pounds of fresh produce to the Northampton Survival Center and Manna Soup Kitchen.  GFN volunteers delivered fresh food to the Survival Center two times per week.

2012

We are currently evaluating our 2011 efforts to improve food access, and will likely make changes to the program next year.  Please let us know if you are interested in volunteering for or benefitting from our Food Access Program by emailing info@growfoodnorthampton.com

Thank you Grow Northampton for lowering my food budget, and a big thanks to all the farmers who offer top quality organic vegetables week after week without the use of pesticides. We are eating much better for much less money and I have truly been blessed to be one of the shareholders. “
